Fiona Tweedie is the self-declared head of the Department of Digital Fabulists and a digital rights serial pest. She’s also a community and event wrangler who loves 'open' in all its flavours. Between 2013 and 2016 she served as a board member of Open Knowledge Australia and was one of the organisers of the Melbourne meetup as well as the major events GovHack and HealthHack. She has a strong interest in Digital Humanities, having taught digital skills to humanities researchers at the University of Melbourne and developed a course in text mining with Python’s Natural Language Toolkit for use by researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences. She has taught workshops on accessing and analysing open text resources at THATCamp Melbourne (2014), MozFest London (2014) and HASTAC Michigan (2015). In 2016, Fiona worked as a data scientist at The Australian Ballet and in 2017 joined Deloitte’s data practice as a consultant. She holds a PhD in Roman History.
